The holidays are finally done, and I can catch my breath at last. I still have orders in my queue that need to be done, because even with it being close, I still seem to pick up new requests as quickly as I can finish the existing ones, but at least I'm keeping up now. Our 6 baby chicks that hatched are growing fast and are already almost completely feathered out, meanwhile the adult chickens have started laying again now that the days are getting longer. Our chicks that we bought in September are reaching maturity, and I suspect a couple of them may be laying already. Until I catch them in the act, though, there is no way to know for sure.
I'm working on a batch of bath mitts with cotton yarn right now, as well as posting some of my husbands photography to merchandise on Zazzle.com. In addition, I'm putting together an activity book for the gardening class that is coming up here in less than a week. Long story short, I'm keeping busy.
I hope you all are keeping warm. Welcome to 2014!
December already? Nooooooo!
Why is it, no matter how much I crochet, I never seem to get as much done as I mean to? I have been working my fingers down to nubs trying to get stuff done for my booth and online shop, but even with my order queue on hold, I just can't seem to get enough done. It doesn't help matters any that I have Christmas gifts to make yet. OMG Christmas gifts.... Maybe I'll just bake everyone some cookies?
In other news, we had a couple of hens go broody, and so far we have successfully hatched out six little darlings! The sixth one just hatched today and has been thoroughly distracting me with its epic cuteness. I'll see what I can do about post
Holidays are fast approaching.
Like it or not, Christmas is just around the corner, and if you're trying to stock shelves with your creations like I am, you have to start even earlier than most to get your items done in time. I've been working hard putting together hats, fingerless gloves, and small amigurumi items to sell both in my online shop and my real-world market booth. Very soon, I should have a nice collection of Christmas critters to share with you, though I had to put them on hold because I haven't been well this week.

Until next time!
Diary of a Busy Lady
So for months now, I've been looking at my journal thinking, "I really ought to post a new entry", and for months I have been far too busy to do so or else had nothing to say. I'm still very busy, but what the hell, here's an entry anyway.
As you have seen in my gallery, I am working on producing more high-end items to offer for sale, and I have even created a new website to feature them at lydiasyarn.com I haven't had a lot of time to work on them, though, as I have been absolutely inundated with orders and am presently assisting with a summer program which consumes most of my time. To give you an idea of what my workload has been like,
Happy 2013
A new journal post is long overdue, so here goes.
I've been a very busy lady the past few months, both with paying orders and with my own various projects. Among other things, I have been working on a variety of Hello Kitty amigurumi creations--the result of a gift I made for a cousin of mine that ended up being so popular I had to produce more. Ultimately, I plan to do a diverse collection of them, including (but not limited to) dolls for all of the major U.S. holidays, Back-to-School, summer fun, and even a zombie Hello Kitty. For anyone interested in ordering a Hello Kitty amigurumi, I make them to order and they are $25 USD + shipping
